There are two forms; chronic and acute. Typically, the younger an animal is, the faster the disease progresses.
Acute lymphomas are seen in ferrets under 2 years of age, and prognosis is very poor, due to the fast progression of the disease.
In older ferrets, the neoplasm progresses much slower, but is often seen in conjunction with Insulinomas and Adrenal masses.
There is some speculation that this neoplasm may be caused by a virus, but this has yet to be proven.
